How to choose a digital marketing company you can trust

Choosing a digital marketing company is difficult because everyone sounds the same on the first call. The promises are similar, the decks are similar, and the differences only appear in month three when reporting starts.
This is the checklist we would use ourselves: the questions to ask, the answers that should reassure you, and the signals that mean you should keep looking.
Decide what you are actually buying
Digital marketing covers social media management, paid advertising, search optimisation, answer engine optimisation, websites, email and content. Very few businesses need all of it at once. Write down your goal in plain terms, for example twenty qualified enquiries a month, then judge every proposal against it.
If a proposal has no link between the work and your goal, it is a content plan rather than a growth plan. Ask which activity is meant to produce enquiries and how long it should take.
Seven questions worth asking on the first call
Who does the work day to day? What does month one look like compared with month six? Which numbers will you report and how often? Can I see two examples in a market like mine? What do you need from us to succeed? Who owns the accounts, ad account, website and content? What happens if we want to stop?
Quick tip:
Account ownership is the answer that matters most. Every ad account, analytics property, domain and social profile should be in your name, with the agency added as a user.
Warning signs to take seriously
Guaranteed number one rankings, pressure to sign the same day, long lock in contracts with no exit, reporting made only of impressions and likes, and a refusal to name the people doing the work. Also be wary of anyone who never asks about your margins, capacity or sales process, because results have to fit what your business can deliver.
One more quiet signal: look at their own marketing. A company that cannot keep its own website, social profiles and case studies current will struggle to keep yours current either.
How to read the pricing
Fixed packages named after metals usually mean you pay for work you do not need. Prefer modular pricing where you can see the line items, add what matters and remove what does not. Ad spend should always be listed separately from management fees so you know exactly what the agency earns.
Cheap and vague is expensive later. A clear scope at a fair price, with a named deliverable count and a review each month, is what keeps a partnership honest on both sides.
How we work at Sociowhiz
We price by the line item rather than by package, starting at $49.99 a month for social media management, $249 a month for SEO and AEO, $99.99 a month for advertising management, $99.99 a year for a website and $299 for a logo and brand identity. You keep ownership of every account, and you get a monthly report built around enquiries rather than impressions.
We work with clients in Canada, India and other markets, so the plan is built around where your buyers are, not where we are. Build your plan on the pricing page, or book a free call and we will tell you honestly what we would do first.
